Managed Backup can comfortably backup up files that are exclusively locked up or are being used by other applications at the time of backup in Microsoft Windows OSes. Managed Backup supports Volume Shadow Service to backup the open files. If the operating system in use is supported by VSS (e.g., Windows XP and above OS versions), then simply enable the VSS option when configuring a backup schedule. And if your operating system does not support VSS (e.g., Windows 2000), then you can backup Open Files with the help of Managed Backup’s Open File Backup Plugin. This plugin is pre-configured to allow Managed Backup process to access the open files.
